Character Biography

'Who names his child "Rolis"?'

An Intaki comedian under contract by Perkone.
If you have never had Perkone as a parent, allow me to introduce the quintessential helicopter mother. Her absurd expectations are only matched by her boundless Asian parent disappointment with whatever you do. To her, success means a 5000% RoI by the age of 12. In her twisted sense of compassion, Perkone nudges you along by slashing her commitments just short of what would be termed illegal.
As my luck would have it, the cylindrical incubator - my infant crib - lacked maintenance so desperately that a rolling infant was a common sight every other day.
The Intaki satyr of a man, Claude, took to calling me Rustyroll. But, I blame Mrs Sakuko whose command of standard language was so poor, or perhaps, in on the joke, taught me to speak in third person. Rustyroll being too much to pronounce, I took to calling myself 'Roll'. 'Roll is upset', 'Roll is hungry', 'Roll is mad at Mrs Sakuko for ruining his grammar'. It wasn't long before I became 'Rolis'.

How did I get Owlborne?

As her child, Mother Perkone bade me fight her wars. One such war involved responding to repeated Matari incursions on planet Fukai. Looking for a foxhole during battle, I happened to fall into a shaft at the time of the twilight ritual.

Oh, yes: Roll was rolling again.
You see, the dominant Achura tribe's worship of owls kept thousands of them sheltered in unmarked, abyssal caves. At that instant, thousands of giant native Fukai bats decided to get some fresh air.

Roll is borne out of the cave by owls.

To the locals, I became the Favoured One.
To my superiors, a tolerable nuisance...At least until a loyal sect spawned my godhood. The military and had a few reservations, mostly over stolen weaponry and missing uniforms.

When a hundred thousand combat capable natives hang on a soldier's every word, he is a defacto general.

Rolis pleased.
