Long ago, I made the world. I made all the stars, too, and the world is one of the stars. I made them by scattering my droppings all over the sky and this is why the grass and the trees grow so thick on the world. I make the rivers flow. They follow me as I go through the sky, and when I leave the sky they look for me all night. I made all the animals and birds, but when I first made them they were all the same. The sparrow and the kestrel were friends and they both ate seeds and flies. And the fox and the rabbit were friends and they both ate grass. And there was plenty of grass and plenty of flies, because the world was new and I shone down bright and warm all day.
I am the Sun your God and every evening, when I have done my day's work and lie calm and easy in the red sky, You and your children and your children's children will come out of your warrens and feed and play in my sight, for you are my friends, and I have promised you, that you can never be destroyed.
