Character Biography

What Is Human Anymore?

Some say being human means being born naturally—no enhancements, no genetic alterations, no implants. Others argue that such notions are outdated relics in the face of modern human evolution and scientific advancement. The truth? We passed that boundary long ago.

The ability to clone a human with precision opened doors once confined to fiction. One of those doors led to the blending of genetics—two subjects, one new creation. From there, it’s simply a matter of pod incubation, a standard procedure in clone birth. These marvels, while common now, remain expensive. However, when someone wishes to have a child the costs don't matter.

My “birthday” is 2009.09.11. I find it amusing they still call it that. It’s the day I emerged from my growth pod—not born in the "traditional" sense. But what else would it be called? “Pod Day”? Doesn’t have quite the same ring.

My Father and Poppa are an uncommon match—an Amarr and a Minmatar. Their union defied more than tradition. My Father underwent the Vherokior Cleansing Rite before they were joined. From what I’ve read, it’s painful—arguably insane. Before the rite begins the implant that allows the immediate transfer of consciousness is reconfigured to hold, awaiting instruction upon death. Then, in a sacred ceremony, blades cut deep into the initiate, slowly draining them completely of blood. If the Elder deems the initiate pure and sincere, the implant is given instruction to transfer consciousness. If not... well... continued storage\xa0and upkeep of the initiates\xa0clone is no longer required. I wonder what it must feel like to love someone that much. To risk everything.

One of my earliest memories is of my Father stepping into his pod for another “business trip.” I was five. I didn’t know then, but he was headed to a remote Republic system to deal with some raiders.

From that day on, I dreamed of joining the ranks of the capsuleers.

Once my dream was known, my parents gave me their blessing—but told me to work hard, study harder, and they would see to it my dream came to pass. At sixteen, I was accepted into the University of Caille on Ney IV. I graduated in a few months due to an accelerated schedule thanks to my high aptitude\xa0scores\xa0and what I would guess were some sizable donations from my Father.

Now, I carry the pride of my parents, and I hope to be worthy of it.

Let my future be known.
