Spotted Dove: Order Columbiformes, Family Columbidae. A medium-sized (30 cm) pinkish-brown dove. The most distinctive feature is the black patch on the side of the neck covered with white spots. The tail is slightly long, with broad white tips on the outer tail feathers, and the flight feathers are darker than the body plumage. The iris is orange-yellow, the bill is black, and the legs and toes are red. Voice: A soft, melodious "ter-kuk-kurr" repeated, with the last syllable emphasized. Common and widespread in Southeast Asia; introduced to various regions through the Lesser Sunda Islands, reaching as far as Australia. A common resident bird found in open lowlands and villages in central, southwestern, southern, and eastern China. It inhabits areas around villages and rice fields, often standing in pairs on open roads, feeding on the ground. When disturbed, it takes off slowly with fluttering wings, flying close to the ground.
