Character Biography
Hisec Mining Safety Tips:
- Mine in systems that have the highest security rating available for the ore type you want.
- Choose systems that are at least several jumps from major trade hubs.
- Choose systems that are low-traffic. These have the advantage of also being more likely to have belts that aren't mined out yet.
- Avoid known hotbeds of ganker activity, such as Lonetrek, The Forge, and The Citadel.
- Set known ganking corps and alliances, such as Safety., CODE., and Malicious Mineral Hounds, as contacts with a rating of "terrrible". The red mark by their name makes them easy to spot in the hud, overview, and chat.
- Keep an eye on local chat. A sudden increase of several people may indicate a ganking group entering the vicinity. Keeping Local chat open in a separate window can make this easier.
- Tank your ship. The more work they have to do to gank you, the less attractive a target you are.
- Avoid bling on your ship. Expensive equipment like ORE Strip Miners or "Aoede" Mining Laser Upgrades are gank magnets.
- Align while you mine. Being able to warp instantly is a big safety plus.
- Be willing to abandon your drones when you warp if you need to.
- Don't mine AFK. I know it's tempting to leave "for just a minute" for various reasons, but it's not a great idea.
- EVE has sound, so use it. The "thump" that another ship makes when it warps into your belt should instantly put you on alert.
- Open Gank-Intel and keep it open to see intel on ganker activity.
